“Failure is not a disgrace if you have sincerely done your best.”
- Napoleon Hill
Do you have fears that keep you from giving your best effort? Do these fear come from a belief that your best will not be good enough? Could you possibly fear that your best is too good for the status quo to accept? However you try to rationalize it, whenever you are not giving a full and honest effort, you are not only cheating yourself, but you are cheating those that depend on your output and the good that could have come from it. It may be human nature to fear embarrassment in not being good enough and backlash in being too good, but that doesn’t necessarily make holding back the effort the right thing to do . . .

"Progress always involves risks. You can't steal second base and keep your foot on first."
- Frederick Wilcox
Do you look for ventures that offer the thrill of being safe and secure? You cannot. By definition, a venture is an undertaking that is dangerous, daring, or of uncertain outcome. Even by the business definition, it is described as an enterprise involving some risk in expectation of gain. Let me rephrase that for you: you cannot expect to gain if you are unwilling to put something at risk. The greater the odds against you, the greater the possible payoff, based on just how much you are willing to wager. But it isn’t always about high-stakes. Sometimes it’s just having the courage to take a simple action that currently scares you to death. What would it take for you to take that chance today . . .

"Some of us learn from other people's mistakes and the rest of us have to be other people."
- Zig Ziglar
You don’t have to smack you head into a brick wall to know that it is going to hurt. You already know that the brick wall is solid and that any body part that hits something solid is going to hurt. Two lessons you learned as a toddler form the base for not testing out theories of heads smacking into brick walls today. This lesson may seem too simple or even too silly to even write about. But how often do you watch another person attempt an action you are about to attempt and fail? Then, how often do you still decide to attempt that same action, and perform in the same fashion, and expect to succeed . . .

“A tough lesson in life that one has to learn is that not everybody wishes you well.” - Dan Rather
They may give you words of encouragement. They may wish you good luck. But there is a fair chance that a good number of that they do not mean the words you say. By the same token, there is a sizable number of people who say little to you in the way of encouraging words, but do plenty of the little things in your life that add up to larger enrichments. The best way to tell a friend from a foe is not by the words you hear them say. You can hide a lot of ill intent in a few words that may sound encouraging. The best way to tell a friend from a foe is to always watch their actions . . .

“He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.”
- Matthew 28:6, New International Version
Easter marks the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who according to the Bible, rose from the dead days after being crucified. This Easter morning is not a set up to have that debate, but a reminder that resurrection from a negative life is always possible, and less about miracles than it is about coming to a decision that enough is enough. The moment you decide to let your old life die and decay is the exact moment of your personal rebirth. It might not be easy, but it is indeed possible, especially if you do choose to lean on the spirit of Christ . . .

“Every saint has a past and every sinner has a future.”
- Oscar Wilde
Mobile Motivation Daily has not been published for a while. Almost two full months of time has passed since I have posted a quote and message, and not for lack of trying. A little insight: I and we (me and my company) have been working almost as much in the past two months without producing much public content as I and we have in the three years since I founded the company. I and we are now standing at a creative crossroad, and I and we are running out decision time. I and we are just about to take that first step into what will become our future, and there is no fear. Think back to the last time your life was at a crossroads. Think about that decision that you knew you had to make then, and how that outcome is working for you right now . . .

"The best way to reduce stress is to stop screwing up."
- Roy Baumeister & John Tierney
Watching another person begin to take responsibility for their own life is inspiring, but is it inspiring enough for you to begin to take responsibility of your own life? The answer to that question may be no, but that is fine. At least it is fine for the moment. But you now have a new problem. Now you know what accepting accountability can do for you. It is up to you to ultimately choose to accept accountability for yourself . . .

“There is no remedy for love but to love more.”
- Henry David Thoreau
You may or may not consider Valentine’s Day to be a real holiday in your mind, but it does make a great reminder of the true power of love, chocolate hearts and stuffed bears aside. Love’s power works and does great work, but it doesn’t take bad poetry on paper cards to activate. It just takes the desire to love, and a target to give your love to. A target that wants to accept your gift, of course . . .

“The aging process has you firmly in its grasp if you never get the urge to throw a snowball.”
- Doug Larson
As I am writing this, we are in the middle of one of those rare snow events across the South, which will last us less than 24 hours but we will complain about for years to come. We know y’all up North tend to poke fun at us Southerners for our inability to drive on snow, and our tendency to clear the grocery stores of milk, eggs, and bread a week before any snowflake actually falls. Today, I’m asking all of you to take the time to enjoy your snow days. Whether it’s making a lopsided snowman with the kids on their impromptu day out of school, or a relatively quiet day in a relatively empty office, don’t let the stresses of a change of plans keep you from enjoying the wonders that come with fallen snow . . .

“You can have it all. You just can't have it all at once.”
- Oprah Winfrey
Do you know what you really want? Do you really know what you really want? I want you to know that you can have it. You can have it all. Everything you really really want. How? The key to having what you really want is as simple as deciding what you can live without. Your next step is to just leave all the things you can live without behind . . .
